Bracing
Orthotic braces are actively used to provide support to a weakened body part or joint. While many times they are worn for short periods of time, usually after an injury or surgery, some braces are used to address long-term or chronic conditions. Some braces are used passively; other braces play a more active role in that not only do they support but also provide a counterforce that achieves a desired outcome (i.e., minimizing/preventing any further curvature of the spine in scoliosis patients).
Benefits of Bracing:
- Promote healing
- Reduce the risk of re-injury
- Alleviate pain
- Improve stability
- Minimize stress
- Increase activity
